The Elmira Pioneers (3-3) jumped out to an early lead, but were unable to hold on and lost 3-2 to the Oneonta Outlaws (4-1) on Thursday.
While the Elmira Pioneers led until the sixth inning, the Oneonta Outlaws worked their way back and took the lead on an RBI single by Alex Malsch.
Austin Higginbotham struck out seven hitters en route to the the Oneonta Outlaws win. Higginbotham allowed two earned runs on five hits and three walks over eight innings.
Andrew Sipowicz was effective even in defeat, mowing down six the Oneonta Outlaws batters and allowing three runs.
Sipowicz (0-1) was the game's losing pitcher.
