A great effort by Troy Dixon carried the Elmira Pioneers (12-4) to an 11-4 win over the Adirondack Trail Blazers (4-11) on Wednesday.
Dixon racked up six RBIs on two hits for the Elmira Pioneers. He homered in the fifth and sixth innings.
The Elmira Pioneers blew out the Adirondack Trail Blazers thanks to 13 hits, including zero extra base hits. The Elmira Pioneers scored five runs in the sixth on the Elmira Pioneers scored in the sixth on a groundout by Phil Madonna, a solo home run by Austin Riggins, a single by Joe Preziuso, a sacrifice fly by Blake Buckman, an error, and a solo home run by Dixon.
Kyle Stuart had an impressive outing against the Adirondack Trail Blazers' lineup. The Adirondack Trail Blazers managed just one hit off of the the Elmira Pioneers' pitcher, who allowed no earned runs, walked one and struck out one during his three innings of work.
Chris Collins did his best to jumpstart the offense for the Adirondack Trail Blazers, reaching base three times. He singled in the first inning.
Hayden Frost got the win, running his season record to 1-0. He allowed one run over three innings. Frost struck out four, walked three and gave up two hits.
Josh Partridge ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with his second loss of the year. He lasted just four innings, walked one, struck out one, and allowed five runs.
