Grabe helps the Lake Erie Crushers down the Joliet Slammers 6-5

Story by Narrative Science.

Eric Grabe had two extra base hits, sparking the Lake Erie Crushers (23-25) to a 6-5 victory over the Joliet Slammers (28-22) on Saturday at All Pro Freight Stadium.

He doubled in the first and third innings and singled in the fifth inning.

The Joliet Slammers couldn't get anything going so long as Brad Duffy was on the hill. Duffy held the Joliet Slammers hitless over two innings, allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out three.

Melvin Rodriguez was solid at the plate for the Joliet Slammers. Rodriguez went 2-4, drove in one and scored one run. He homered in the fourth inning and singled in the sixth inning.

The Lake Erie Crushers couldn't get anything going as long as Mitchell Osnowitz was pitching. The Lake Erie Crushers managed just one hit off of Osnowitz, who allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out two during his 3 1/3 innings of work.

Brent Choban ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with his fifth loss of the year. He lasted just two-thirds of an inning, walked two, struck out one, and allowed one run.

The Lake Erie Crushers were sparked by Grabe and Sean Hurley, who teamed up for six hits and four RBIs.
