The bats were busy at Fort Marcy Park on Thursday, and when the dust cleared the Santa Fe Fuego (16-44) had a 16-15 win over the White Sands Pupfish (24-37).
The two teams combined for 35 hits in the game.
Eric Maria had a busy day at the plate, collecting two extra-base hits. He singled in the second inning, doubled in the fifth inning, and homered in the seventh inning.
Nick Minot improved to 1-1 on the year by picking up the win for the Santa Fe Fuego. He struck out two, walked none and surrendered one hit.
Zac Johnson (1-2) was the game's losing pitcher. He lasted just 3 1/3 innings, walked one, struck out three, and allowed two runs.
The Santa Fe Fuego easily handled the White Sands Pupfish pitching as seven hitters combined for 13 hits, 15 RBIs and 15 runs scored.
