The Garden City Wind (20-16) beat the Great Bend Boom (13-22) 8-5 on Tuesday at Clint Lightner behind Beau Welborn, who had three RBIs.
He singled in the first and fifth innings and homered in the sixth inning.It was a good day at the plate for the Great Bend Boom's Clayton Truex. Truex went 1-4, drove in one and scored one run. He homered in the second inning.
Austin Boyle recorded his fifth win of the year for the Garden City Wind. He allowed four runs over eight innings. Boyle struck out five, walked four and gave up eight hits.
Stephen Swagerty was charged with his third loss of the year. He lasted just 5 2/3 innings, walked seven, struck out six, and allowed five runs.
