The Santa Fe Fuego (9-30) and the White Sands Pupfish (15-28) both had scoring chances on Saturday, but it was the Santa Fe Fuego that were able to capitalize on them as they pulled out a 3-2 win at Fort Marcy Park.

The fact that the Santa Fe Fuego grouped all of their runs into the sixth inning helped them take advantage of their hits.

The Santa Fe Fuego were led by Eric Maria's hitting. Maria went 2-4, drove in one and scored one run. He singled in the eighth inning.

Eric Gleese picked up the win for the Santa Fe Fuego. Gleese pitched eight innings and allowed two earned runs, eight hits and two walks while striking out six.

Zach Skelton was effective even in defeat, mowing down five the Santa Fe Fuego batters and allowing three runs.

Skelton ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with his second loss of the year.
