Seven first-inning runs helped the Garden City Wind (7-9) to a 10-5 win over the Trinidad Triggers (12-6) at Central Park on Saturday.
The Garden City Wind scored in the first on a three-run home run by Eli Roundtree, an RBI single by Nick Francis, a two-run single by Eric Esquilin, and an RBI single by Joey Cecere.
Roundtree racked up three RBIs on two hits for the Garden City Wind.
Jonathan Ovalles had an impressive outing against the Trinidad Triggers' lineup. Ovalles held the Trinidad Triggers hitless over one inning, allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out three.
Jason Webb got on base four times in the game for the Trinidad Triggers. He scored two runs and had one RBI. He singled in the first and fifth innings.
Austin Boyle improved to 2-0 on the year by picking up the win for the Garden City Wind. He allowed four runs over six innings. He struck out eight, walked five and surrendered eight hits.
Eric Brothers couldn't get it done on the bump for the Trinidad Triggers, taking a loss. He allowed eight runs in four innings, walked one and struck out four.
