Wild pitch in opening act fuels 10-5 the White Sands Pupfish victory over the Salina Stockade

The White Sands Pupfish (4-5)'s four first-inning runs built an early lead that helped bring home a 10-5 win over the Salina Stockade (2-6) on Thursday at Griggs Park.

The White Sands Pupfish scored in the first on a wild pitch, a sacrifice fly by Joe Borowski, and a two-run single by Macyn Clifford.

TJ Wharton had a busy day at the plate, collecting two extra-base hits. He singled in the first inning, doubled in the fourth inning, and tripled in the eighth inning.

Billy Waltrip picked up the win for the White Sands Pupfish. Waltrip pitched 7 2/3 innings and allowed three earned runs, seven hits and two walks while striking out 12.

Keifer McClendon couldn't get it done on the mound for the Salina Stockade, taking a loss. He allowed seven runs in six innings, walked none and struck out 10.

Eric Cordero, Clifford, Eric Kalbfliesh and Wharton helped lead the White Sands Pupfish. They combined for 10 hits and four RBIs.
