A superb effort by Billy Waltrip led the White Sands Pupfish (2-1) to a 10-4 win over the Alpine Cowboys (1-2) on Saturday at Kokernot Field.

Waltrip's 13 strikeouts helped the White Sands Pupfish to the victory. Waltrip allowed one earned run on one hit and two walks over six innings.

The White Sands Pupfish blew out the Alpine Cowboys thanks to 14 hits, including zero extra base hits. The White Sands Pupfish scored five runs in the first on the White Sands Pupfish scored in the first on a two-run error, an RBI single by Joe Borowski, and a two-run single by Macyn Clifford.

Dubal Daez racked up two RBIs on two hits for the White Sands Pupfish. He singled in the first inning and homered in the fourth inning.

Jake Heissler (0-1) took the loss for the Alpine Cowboys. He allowed nine runs in six innings, walked one and struck out three.
