A superb effort by Charlie Gillies hoisted the Normal CornBelters (22-25) to a 3-0 win over the Gateway Grizzlies on Wednesday at The Corn Crib.
Gillies pitched lights out for the Normal CornBelters. The Gateway Grizzlies (25-24) managed just one hit off of Gillies, who allowed no earned runs, walked three and struck out seven during his nine innings of work.
Adam Eggnatz ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with his first loss of the year. He lasted just 6 2/3 innings, walked three, struck out five, and allowed two runs.
