Dakota Smith did his part on the bump, but it wasn't enough to carry the Gateway Grizzlies (25-26) to a win on Friday, as the Gateway Grizzlies fell to the Evansville Otters (27-21) 4-3 at Bosse Field.

Smith baffled the Evansville Otters, striking out nine batters. Smith allowed two earned runs on three hits and one walk over eight innings.

A walk-off two-run blast by John Schultz gave the Evansville Otters the win.

Schultz racked up two RBIs on one hit for the Evansville Otters. He homered in the ninth inning.

Tyler Thompson recorded his fourth win of the year for the Evansville Otters. Thompson struck out two, walked none and gave up one hit.

Jordan Wellander (2-1) took the loss for the Gateway Grizzlies. He lasted just one-third of an inning, walked none, struck out none, and allowed two runs.
