Both the Schaumburg Boomers (24-26) and the Washington Wild Things (25-22) put runners aboard on Friday, but it was the Schaumburg Boomers that were able to take advantage, pulling out a 5-4 win at CONSOL Energy Park.
Zack Weigel got on base three times in the game for the Schaumburg Boomers. He singled in the third and seventh innings.
The Washington Wild Things couldn't get anything going so long as Jake Joyce was on the hill. The Washington Wild Things managed just one hit off of Joyce, who allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out two during his two innings of work.
A bright spot for the Washington Wild Things in the defeat was Devon Davis, who allowed only one run while striking out five.
Davis ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with his first loss of the year.
