Early lead not enough for the Washington Wild Things, drop 4-2 decision to the Southern Illinois Miners

The Washington Wild Things (27-23) came out firing, but couldn't hang on to the lead, ending up on the losing side of a 4-2 ballgame against the Southern Illinois Miners (35-17) on Friday at CONSOL Energy Park.

While the Washington Wild Things led until the fourth inning, the Southern Illinois Miners worked their way back and took the lead on a two-run home run by Steve Marino.

Marino racked up two RBIs on one hit for the Southern Illinois Miners. He homered in the fourth inning.

Dyllon Nuernberg got the win for the Southern Illinois Miners thanks to six strikeouts. Nuernberg allowed two earned runs on four hits and four walks over six innings.

Luke Wilkins (2-2) was the game's losing pitcher. He lasted just seven innings, walked four, struck out two, and allowed four runs.
