A walk-off double from Josh Allen brought home the winning run for the Evansville Otters (35-28) in a 9-8 victory over the Traverse City Beach Bums in 10 innings at Bosse Field on Friday.
Allen reached base three times. He scored one run and had one RBI. He singled in the first inning and doubled in the tenth inning.
Jose Vargas blasted two home runs for the Traverse City Beach Bums (27-37). Vargas went 3-5 in the game with four RBIs and two runs scored. Vargas homered in the third and ninth innings.
The two teams combined for 17 runs and 21 hits, including zero extra base hits. Both bullpens were busy with 11 pitchers used in the game as the skippers of both squads tried to finish it off.
Randy McCurry got the win, running his season record to 3-2. He allowed two runs over two innings. He struck out two, walked one and surrendered two hits.
Luke Barker (1-4) was the game's losing pitcher. He lasted just 1 1/3 innings, walked none, struck out two, and allowed one run.
