Preston Grand Pre was cold coming off the bench, but Grand Pre warmed up quickly as Grand Pre stroked a key pinch-hit double in the six to lead the Wareham Gatemen (17-14) to an 8-5 win over the Chatham Anglers (13-20) on Thursday at Spillane Field.

With the Wareham Gatemen trailing by one, Grand Pre came to the plate and doubled.

Grand Pre led the Wareham Gatemen's offensive threat, as he got on base three times in the game.

The Chatham Anglers were ahead early but they ultimately surrendered the lead for good. The Chatham Anglers were ahead until the sixth inning, but the Wareham Gatemen would not be denied the win, taking the lead back on an RBI single by Robert Metz.

Cole Freeman racked up two RBIs on three hits for the Wareham Gatemen. He singled in the third and sixth innings.

Ryan Selmer got the win for the Wareham Gatemen thanks to six strikeouts. The Wareham Gatemen's pitcher gave up just three hits over 3 2/3 shutout innings.

Michael Fitzgerald was charged with his first loss of the year. He lasted just two innings, walked none, struck out one, and allowed three runs.
