Justin Hoyt was cold coming off the bench, but Hoyt warmed up quickly as Hoyt stroked a key pinch-hit single in the six to lead the Falmouth Commodores (13-10) to a 6-3 win over the Orleans Firebirds (12-11) on Tuesday at Arnie Allen Diamond.
With the Falmouth Commodores trailing by one, Hoyt came to the plate and singled.
Tristan Gray racked up three RBIs on one hit for the Falmouth Commodores. He homered in the sixth inning.
Brendan King pitched lights out for the Falmouth Commodores. The Orleans Firebirds managed just one hit off of the the Falmouth Commodores' pitcher, who allowed no earned runs, walked two and struck out five during his two innings of work.
Hoyt got the win, running his season record to 1-1. He struck out one, walked none and surrendered no hits.
Kevin Smith (2-2) took the loss for the Orleans Firebirds. He lasted just one inning, walked none, struck out two, and allowed four runs.
