The Chatham Anglers (10-11) beat the Orleans Firebirds (12-9) 6-3 on Monday at Veterans Field behind Jordan Romero, who had two extra base hits.

Lincoln Henzman kept contact to a minimum, striking out eight the Orleans Firebirds batters. Henzman allowed no earned runs on four hits and no walks over 5 2/3 innings.

Drew Lugbauer was solid at the plate for the Orleans Firebirds. Lugbauer went 1-4, drove in one and scored one run. He homered in the ninth inning.

Will Stokes brought the heat against the Chatham Anglers during his outing. Stokes held the Chatham Anglers hitless over 1 2/3 innings, allowed no earned runs, walked one and struck out three.

Kirk McCarty (2-1) was the game's losing pitcher. He lasted just 4 2/3 innings, walked none, struck out four, and allowed three runs.

The Chatham Anglers were sparked by Romero and Stuart Fairchild, who teamed up for four hits and two RBIs.
