McVey helps the Bourne Braves down the Orleans Firebirds 9-5

Connor McVey knocked in three runs, sparking the Bourne Braves (6-1) to a 9-5 victory over the Orleans Firebirds (4-3) on Friday at Doran Park.

He doubled in the first inning and singled in the second and fourth innings.

James Ziemba had an impressive outing against the Orleans Firebirds' lineup. Ziemba held the Orleans Firebirds hitless over 1 2/3 innings, allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out two.

Zach Kirtley racked up four RBIs on two hits for the Orleans Firebirds. He singled in the first inning and homered in the third inning.

The Bourne Braves had no answer for John OReilly, who kept runners off the basepaths in his appearance. The Bourne Braves managed just one hit off of the the Orleans Firebirds' pitcher, who allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out none during his three innings of work.

Keith Weisenberg got the win, running his season record to 2-0. He allowed one run over 2 1/3 innings. He struck out two, walked none and surrendered three hits.

Eli Morgan was charged with his first loss of the year. He allowed eight runs in two innings, walked two and struck out three.
