The Pompano Beach Clippers make the most of 8 hits in 8-6 victory over the West Palm Beach Sharks

The Pompano Beach Clippers (5-2) and the West Palm Beach Sharks (2-5) each put runners in scoring position on Tuesday, but the Pompano Beach Clippers capitalized on more RBI opportunities, pulling out an 8-6 win at Dyer Park.

The Pompano Beach Clippers were led by a flawless day at the dish by Kyle Simon, who went 3-3 against the West Palm Beach Sharks' pitching. He doubled in the seventh inning and singled in the second and ninth innings.

Patrick Mitchell had an impressive outing against the West Palm Beach Sharks' lineup. The West Palm Beach Sharks managed just two hits off of the the Pompano Beach Clippers' pitcher, who allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out six during his two innings of work.

The West Palm Beach Sharks were led by Tommy Derer's hitting. Derer went 3-4, drove in one and scored one run. He tripled in the second inning and singled in the fourth and seventh innings.

Ryan Stark got the win, running his season record to 1-0. He allowed two runs over five innings. Stark struck out five, walked two and gave up six hits.

Chris Gang ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with his second loss of the year. He lasted just five innings, walked one, struck out four, and allowed three runs.
