The Pompano Beach Clippers offense too much for the Delray Beach Lightning in 12-5 rout

The Pompano Beach Clippers (18-7) shut the door early on the Delray Beach Lightning (18-13), capturing a 12-5 victory on Thursday at Miller Park.

With six runs in the first three innings, the Pompano Beach Clippers left no doubt about the eventual outcome.

An RBI double by J.P. Sorma, an RBI double by Sorma, and an RBI double by Benito Varela in the first inning and a steal of home by Chase Reyes, , and a two-run single by Lance Myers during the second inning fueled the Pompano Beach Clippers' offense early.

Varela had three extra-base hits for the Pompano Beach Clippers.

The Delray Beach Lightning couldn't get anything going as long as Ken Tabor was pitching. The Delray Beach Lightning managed just one hit off of the the Pompano Beach Clippers' pitcher, who allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out six during his four innings of work.

Kennie Taylor had a busy day at the plate, collecting two extra-base hits. He doubled in the first and eighth innings.

Chuck Arcuri was charged with his first loss of the year. He allowed six runs in 1 2/3 innings, walked three and struck out none.

Reyes, Myers, Varela and Dylan Jones helped lead the Pompano Beach Clippers. They combined for 10 hits and seven RBIs.
