The Joliet Slammers outlast the River City Rascals in high-scoring affair, 9-8

The bats were busy at CarShield Field on Wednesday, and when the dust cleared the Joliet Slammers (24-17) had a 9-8 win over the River City Rascals (20-19).

The teams totaled 29 hits in the game.

Marc Flores racked up five RBIs on four hits for the Joliet Slammers. He doubled in the first inning, homered in the fifth inning, and singled in the third and seventh innings.

The River City Rascals couldn't get anything going so long as Tyler Levine was on the hill. Levine held the River City Rascals hitless over 2 1/3 innings, allowed no earned runs, walked one and struck out two.

Jason Merjano racked up four RBIs on two hits for the River City Rascals. He singled in the second innings and homered in the sixth inning.

Liam OSullivan recorded his fifth win for the Joliet Slammers even though he allowed seven runs over five innings. OSullivan struck out one, walked one and gave up 13 hits.

Francis Ramirez (0-2) took the loss for the River City Rascals. He lasted just four innings, walked two, struck out two, and allowed five runs.

The Joliet Slammers hammered the River City Rascals pitching as six hitters had a field day, combining for 13 hits, nine RBIs and seven runs scored.
