Favero's sacrifice fly propels the Vienna River Dogs past the Herndon Braves, 6-4

Story by Narrative Science.

The Vienna River Dogs (11-14) jumped on the Herndon Braves (11-12) early on their way to a 6-4 win on Saturday at James Madison High School in seven innings, scoring four runs in the first inning.

The Vienna River Dogs scored in the first on a sacrifice fly by Nate Favero, an RBI single by Mike Sciorra, an error, and an RBI single by Wesley Phillips.

Jordan Sergent boosted his batting average thanks to a perfect 2-2 day at the plate to pace the Vienna River Dogs. He singled in the first inning and homered in the second inning.

John DeFazio kept contact to a minimum, striking out eight the Herndon Braves batters. DeFazio allowed two earned runs, three hits and three walks over five innings.

The Vienna River Dogs couldn't get anything going as long as Reid Frazier was pitching. The Vienna River Dogs managed just one hit off of Frazier, who allowed no earned runs, walked two and struck out three during his three innings of work.

Josh Glover ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with his third loss of the year. He lasted just 1 1/3 innings, walked two, struck out one, and allowed five runs.
