The Alameda Merchants blew out the Klamath Falls Gems (16-27) 13-3 on Sunday at College of Alameda after pouring on eight runs in the second inning.

It was a good day at the plate for the Klamath Falls Gems' Alex Alvarado. Alvarado went 2-3, drove in one and scored one run. He tripled in the fifth inning and singled in the ninth inning.

The Alameda Merchants had no answer for Bryan Hathaway, who kept runners off the basepaths in his appearance. Hathaway held the Alameda Merchants hitless over one inning, allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out three.

Adrian Santiago (0-1) was the game's losing pitcher. He lasted just one inning, walked one, struck out one, and allowed one run.
