Sunday was a great day for Cole Lavergne, as he clubbed two home runs to carry the Nevada Big Horns (16-17) to a 21-11 victory over the California Bees (11-21) at Golden Eagle Park in seven innings.
Lavergne racked up seven RBIs on five hits for the Nevada Big Horns. He singled in the first and second innings, doubled in the sixth inning, and homered in the third and seventh innings.
The two teams combined for 32 runs and 37 hits, including zero extra base hits. Both bullpens were busy with eight pitchers used in the game as the skippers of both squads tried to finish it off.
Eleven runs in the opening three innings allowed the Nevada Big Horns to easily put away the California Bees. A two-run double by Kyler Brudwick, an RBI single by Izac Bauer, an RBI double by Landon Lau, and an RBI double by Lau in the first inning and an RBI single by Brudwick and an error during the second inning fueled the Nevada Big Horns' offense early.
Jack Clouthier improved to 1-1 on the year by picking up the win for the Nevada Big Horns. He struck out one, walked none and surrendered one hit.
Wilson Miles (0-4) was the game's losing pitcher. He allowed 11 runs in 2 2/3 innings, walked two and struck out five.
The Nevada Big Horns pounded the California Bees pitching, as six hitters combined for 18 hits, 18 RBIs and 18 runs scored.
