Shirer helps the Fort McMurray Giants down the Brooks Bombers 8-5

Dugan Shirer had two extra base hits, helping the Fort McMurray Giants (5-10) to an 8-5 victory over the Brooks Bombers (2-11) on Friday at Elks Stadium.

He singled in the first inning, homered in the fourth inning, and doubled in the seventh inning.

It was a good day at the plate for the Brooks Bombers' Evan Douglas. Douglas went 1-3, drove in one and scored two runs. He homered in the fourth inning.

Curtis Bafus improved to 1-1 on the year by picking up the win for the Fort McMurray Giants. He allowed one run over three innings. He struck out five, walked none and surrendered three hits.

Larry Romero was charged with his second loss of the year. He lasted just five innings, walked three, struck out eight, and allowed four runs.

The Fort McMurray Giants' Justin Bridgman, Tyler Flores, Dustin Braun and Shirer combined for 11 hits and five RBIs.
