Zac Wilson collected three hits, sparking the Medicine Hat Mavericks (8-2) to an 11-6 victory over the Fort McMurray Giants (3-8) on Sunday at Telus Field.

He doubled in the seventh inning and singled in the sixth and eighth innings.

The Fort McMurray Giants couldn't get anything going as long as Collin Thomas was pitching. Thomas gave up just three hits, allowed two earned runs, walked two and struck out four during his six innings of work.

Gates Jared had a hot bat for the Fort McMurray Giants. Jared went 2-5, drove in one and scored two runs. He homered in the fifth inning and singled in the ninth inning.

Adam Kimmel (0-1) took the loss for the Fort McMurray Giants. He allowed seven runs in 5 2/3 innings, walked two and struck out three.
