Krug hits and pitches the Fort McMurray Giants to 11-8 victory

The bats were busy at Elks Stadium on Saturday, and when the dust cleared the Fort McMurray Giants (2-3) had an 11-8 win over the Brooks Bombers.

The teams totaled 21 hits in the game.

Cooper Krug pulled double duty, leading the Fort McMurray Giants on both offense and defense in the win.

Krug had two extra-base hits for the Fort McMurray Giants. He doubled in the seventh inning and homered in the ninth inning.

Krug brought the heat against the Brooks Bombers (1-4) during his outing. Krug held the Brooks Bombers hitless over one inning, allowed no earned runs, walked one and struck out one.

The Brooks Bombers were led by a flawless day at the dish by Esteban Martinez, who went 2-2 against the Fort McMurray Giants' pitching. He doubled in the third inning and singled in the eighth inning.

Regan Gillis got the win, running his season record to 1-0. He allowed three runs over two innings. Gillis struck out none, walked one and gave up three hits.

Zachary Campagne (0-1) was the game's losing pitcher. He lasted just 3 1/3 innings, walked five, struck out two, and allowed four runs.

The Fort McMurray Giants' Michael Echavia, Krug and Nikolas Cardinal combined for four hits and five RBIs.
