The Medicine Hat Mavericks (2-0) and the Okotoks Dawgs (0-2) both had scoring chances on Thursday, but it was the Medicine Hat Mavericks that were able to capitalize on them as they pulled out a 5-3 win at Athletic Park.

Ryan Helgren went a perfect 2-2 at the plate for the Medicine Hat Mavericks. He doubled in the third inning and singled in the fourth inning.

Christian Parsons brought the heat against the Medicine Hat Mavericks during his outing. Parsons held the Medicine Hat Mavericks hitless over 2 2/3 innings, allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out three.

Greg Turner got the win, running his season record to 1-0. He allowed two runs over six innings. He struck out two, walked two and surrendered nine hits.

Connor Ridley was charged with his first loss of the year. He lasted just four innings, walked three, struck out two, and allowed four runs.
