The Southern Illinois Miners' lineup had no answer for Francisco Carrillo. The Southern Illinois Miners managed just one hit off of the the Normal CornBelters' pitcher, who allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out five during his two innings of work.

A bright spot for the Southern Illinois Miners in the defeat was Rick Teasley, who allowed only two runs while striking out 11.

Horacio Acosta recorded his third win of the year for the Normal CornBelters. He struck out three, walked none and surrendered no hits.

Evan Mott (1-1) took the loss for the Southern Illinois Miners. He lasted just two-thirds of an inning, walked none, struck out none, and allowed one run.
