The Lafayette Aviators (27-29) beat the Kokomo Jackrabbits 9-1 on Tuesday at Loeb Stadium after a six-run explosion in the sixth inning.

The Lafayette Aviators scored in the sixth on a double by Devan OBryan, an RBI single by Eric Willis, a single by Riley Benner, an RBI single by Evan Kennedy, a three-run single by John Holleran, a double by Bryce Evans, and a sacrifice fly by Evan Warden.

The Kokomo Jackrabbits (29-27) were ahead early but they ultimately surrendered the lead for good. The Kokomo Jackrabbits led until the fifth inning, but the Lafayette Aviators took the lead back on an RBI double by Kennedy.

Holleran went a perfect 4-4 at the dish for the Lafayette Aviators.

Kellan Elsbury brought the heat against the Kokomo Jackrabbits during his outing. The Kokomo Jackrabbits managed just one hit off of Elsbury, who allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out two during his three innings of work.

Chris Amato (1-1) took the loss for the Kokomo Jackrabbits. He lasted just 4 2/3 innings, walked one, struck out four, and allowed three runs.
