The Springfield Sliders (30-16) beat the Terre Haute Rex (29-17) 7-3 on Thursday at Robin Roberts Field behind Quintin Crandall, who drove in three runs.
He doubled in the third inning and singled in the first and fifth innings.The Terre Haute Rex had no answer for Colton Neel, who kept runners off the basepaths in his appearance. Neel held the Terre Haute Rex hitless over three innings, allowed no earned runs, walked three and struck out five.
It was a good day at the plate for the Terre Haute Rex's Niko Decolati. Decolati went 1-4, drove in one and scored one run. He homered in the fifth inning.
Austin Griffie recorded his second win of the year for the Springfield Sliders. He allowed three runs over six innings. Griffie struck out four, walked four and gave up four hits.
Matt Hasenbeck couldn't get it done on the bump for the Terre Haute Rex, taking a loss. He lasted just five innings, walked one, struck out three, and allowed five runs.
