Andrew McDonald hopes every outing could go as well as Sunday, as McDonald struck out six batters to carry the Champion City Kings (11-17) to a 4-3 victory over the West Virginia Miners (15-12) at Davidson Stadium.
Matthew Furuto got a hit in each of his two at bats. He singled in the third inning and homered in the seventh inning.
Chris Metrick (1-1) was the game's losing pitcher. He lasted just two-thirds of an inning, walked none, struck out one, and allowed no runs.
The Champion City Kings were sparked by Matt Fallon and Furuto, who teamed up for four hits and three RBIs.
