The Quincy Gems (16-13) and the Lafayette Aviators (15-13) each put runners in scoring position on Sunday, but the Quincy Gems capitalized on more RBI opportunities, pulling out a 7-3 win at Quincy Stadium.

Mitch Carriger racked up three RBIs on three hits for the Quincy Gems. He singled in the first and third innings and homered in the seventh inning.

Jake Haberer's five strikeouts helped the Quincy Gems to the victory. Haberer allowed no earned runs, five hits and two walks over six innings.

Kellan Elsbury pitched lights out for the Lafayette Aviators. The Quincy Gems managed just one hit off of Elsbury, who allowed one earned run, walked none and struck out four during his 3 1/3 innings of work.

Evan Warden ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with his first loss of the year. He lasted just 3 1/3 innings, walked two, struck out two, and allowed four runs.
