Jason Santana went 2-3 as the Springfield Sliders (14-12) took home a 4-1 victory over the Quincy Gems (15-12) at Robin Roberts Field on Friday.
He singled in the second inning and doubled in the eighth inning.Matthew Richey pitched lights out for the Springfield Sliders. The Quincy Gems managed just one hit off of Richey, who allowed one earned run, walked two and struck out four during his six innings of work.
Trey Mathis did his best to jumpstart the offense for the Quincy Gems, reaching base two times. He scored one run and had one RBI. He homered in the fifth inning.
Colan Treml (0-2) took the loss for the Quincy Gems. He lasted just five innings, walked one, struck out five, and allowed three runs.
