The Lafayette Aviators (13-12) built an early lead against the Chillicothe Paints (12-12), scoring three runs in the first inning, en route to a 6-3 win on Thursday at Loeb Stadium.

The Lafayette Aviators scored in the first on an RBI single by Evan Warden and a two-run home run by John Valente.

Valente racked up two RBIs on two hits for the Lafayette Aviators.

Cal Jarrett pitched lights out for the Lafayette Aviators. Jarrett held the Chillicothe Paints hitless over 2 1/3 innings, allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out two.

Michael Blatchford got a hit in each of his two at bats. He singled in the third and fourth innings.

Michael Houdek couldn't get it done on the hill for the Chillicothe Paints, taking a loss. He allowed six runs in 4 2/3 innings, walked three and struck out six.
