Deion Thompson went 2-3 and hit a home run, sparking the Quincy Gems (16-13) to a 3-0 victory over the Springfield Sliders (15-13) on Thursday at Quincy Stadium.

The Springfield Sliders couldn't get anything going so long as Colan Borchers was on the hill. Borchers gave up just two hits, allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out four during his 3 1/3 innings of work.

Adam Gregory put together a nice outing. Gregory held the Quincy Gems hitless over two innings, allowed no earned runs, walked two and struck out four.

Andrew Quinn (0-1) was the game's losing pitcher. He lasted just six innings, walked two, struck out four, and allowed two runs.
