Dan Ward went 1-4 and hit a home run, helping the West Virginia Miners (11-9) to a 5-3 victory over the Danville Dans (11-8) on Saturday at Linda K. Epling Stadium.

Jacob Belinda pitched lights out for the West Virginia Miners. Belinda held the Danville Dans hitless over six innings, allowed one earned run, walked six and struck out nine.

A bright spot for the Danville Dans in the defeat was Ryan Gaines, who allowed only three runs while striking out five.

Grant Mayeaux reached base three times in the game for the Danville Dans. He scored one run and had one RBI. He doubled in the seventh inning and singled in the eighth inning.
