The Springfield Sliders (9-7) jumped out to an early lead, but were unable to hold on and lost 3-1 to the Lafayette Aviators (7-10) on Wednesday.
The Lafayette Aviators took the lead in the eighth inning on a two-run double by Evan Kennedy.
Kennedy racked up two RBIs on two hits for the Lafayette Aviators. He singled in the fourth inning and doubled in the eighth inning.
The Springfield Sliders couldn't get anything going so long as Jason Sterrett was on the hill. The Springfield Sliders managed just one hit off of Sterrett, who allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out two during his 2 1/3 innings of work.
Despite the loss, the Springfield Sliders' Brock Immke dominated the Lafayette Aviators' batters, giving up one run and striking out nine.
Josh Peterson (0-2) was the game's losing pitcher. He lasted just two innings, walked one, struck out none, and allowed two runs.
