The Champion City Kings get key pinch-hit in 4-2 victory over the West Virginia Miners

Adam Vasil was cold coming off the bench, but Vasil warmed up quickly as Vasil stroked a key pinch-hit single in the eight to lead the Champion City Kings (5-10) to a 4-2 win over the West Virginia Miners (7-8) on Saturday at Linda K. Epling Stadium.

With the score tied at one in the eighth inning, Vasil came to the plate and singled.

Sean Kennedy had two extra-base hits for the Champion City Kings. He doubled in the fourth and sixth innings.

Andy Fisher baffled the West Virginia Miners, striking out eight batters. Fisher allowed one earned run, four hits and no walks over six innings.

Nick McClendon improved to 1-0 on the year by picking up the win for the Champion City Kings. He struck out one, walked none and surrendered one hit.

Art Salazar Jr (0-1) was the game's losing pitcher. He lasted just 2 1/3 innings, walked none, struck out two, and allowed one run.
