A walk-off hit into a fielder's choice from Danny Beaver brought home the winning run for the Terre Haute Rex (7-5) in a 7-6 victory over the West Virginia Miners (7-5) at Bob Warn Field at Sycamore Stad on Wednesday.

Beaver reached base one time in the game for the Terre Haute Rex.

David Martinez racked up two RBIs on three hits for the Terre Haute Rex. He singled in the second, fifth, and ninth innings.

Brian Hobbie pitched lights out for the Terre Haute Rex. The West Virginia Miners managed just two hits off of Hobbie, who allowed no earned runs, walked three and struck out four during his six innings of work.

Despite the loss, the West Virginia Miners' Michael Syrett dominated the Terre Haute Rex's batters, giving up zero runs and striking out five.

Matt Weissheier improved to 1-0 on the year by picking up the win for the Terre Haute Rex. He allowed two runs over two innings. He struck out one, walked one and surrendered four hits.

Cody Ballay (1-1) was the game's losing pitcher. He lasted just one-third of an inning, walked three, struck out none, and allowed two runs.
