Deion Thompson was cold coming off the bench, but Thompson warmed up quickly as Thompson stroked a key pinch-hit triple in the two to lead the Quincy Gems (9-2) to an 18-4 win over the Hannibal Cavemen (3-7) on Tuesday at Clemens Field.

With the Quincy Gems leading by two, Thompson came to the plate and tripled.

Thompson racked up six RBIs on four hits for the Quincy Gems.

The Quincy Gems continued to pile on the runs until the end of the game. The Quincy Gems scored four runs in the last three innings to finish off the blowout win. Austin Siener racked up two RBIs on three hits for the Hannibal Cavemen. He doubled in the fourth inning and singled in the second and ninth innings.

Spencer Juergens recorded his third win of the year for the Quincy Gems. He allowed two runs over six innings. He struck out one, walked one and surrendered nine hits.

Jake Sheley (0-1) took the loss for the Hannibal Cavemen. He allowed seven runs in three innings, walked five and struck out one.
