The Butler BlueSox (6-5) jumped out to an early lead on the West Virginia Miners (6-4) and captured a 10-2 victory on Monday at Kelly Automotive Park.
With nine runs in the first three innings, the Butler BlueSox left no doubt about the eventual outcome.
A solo home run by Daniel Hrbek, an RBI double by Jamie Switalski, and an RBI single by Dalton Hoiles during the first inning and a two-run double by Hrbek, an RBI single by Will Schneider, and a sacrifice fly by Jake Kennedy in the second inning supplied the early offense for the Butler BlueSox.Hrbek racked up three RBIs on two hits for the Butler BlueSox.
Alex Wagner kept contact to a minimum, striking out five the West Virginia Miners batters. Wagner allowed no earned runs on six hits and two walks over six innings.
Brian Cherrington couldn't get it done on the hill for the West Virginia Miners, taking a loss. He allowed nine runs in three innings, walked three and struck out none.
