The Danville Dans (4-3)'s three first-inning runs built an early lead that helped bring home a 7-5 win over the Hannibal Cavemen (2-5) on Tuesday at Danville Stadium.

The Danville Dans scored in the first on a wild pitch, an RBI single by Matt Crook, and an RBI single by Michael Bainbridge.

It was a good day at the plate for the Danville Dans' James Battley. Battley went 2-5, drove in one and scored two runs. He singled in the first inning and homered in the sixth inning.

Paul Richan improved to 1-0 on the year by picking up the win for the Danville Dans. He allowed four runs over 5 2/3 innings. Richan struck out six, walked two and gave up seven hits.

Drew Flatford was charged with his first loss of the year. He lasted just three innings, walked five, struck out three, and allowed five runs.
