The Terre Haute Rex (1-2) used a five-run explosion in the fifth inning to get past the Butler BlueSox (1-2) 14-7 on Saturday at Kelly Automotive Park.

The Terre Haute Rex scored in the fifth on a groundout by Jackson Layton, a single by Danny Beaver, a two-run single by Niko Decolati, a two-run single by Michael Klein, and a double by David Martinez.

Beaver racked up three RBIs on four hits for the Terre Haute Rex.

Donnie Ames pitched lights out for the Terre Haute Rex. Ames held the Butler BlueSox hitless over three innings, allowed no earned runs, walked two and struck out three.

Joey Luciana racked up four RBIs on two hits for the Butler BlueSox. He singled in the fourth inning and tripled in the eighth inning.

Shawn Holman ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with his first loss of the year. He allowed nine runs in four innings, walked none and struck out four.
