The Chillicothe Paints (2-0) beat the Champion City Kings (0-1) 4-1 on Friday at VA Memorial Stadium behind Eli Boggess, who had two extra base hits.

Michael Houdek picked up the win for the Chillicothe Paints. Houdek pitched seven innings and allowed one earned run, three hits and no walks while striking out three.

The Chillicothe Paints couldn't get anything going so long as Ben Hughes was on the hill. The Chillicothe Paints managed just two hits off of the the Champion City Kings' pitcher, who allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out two during his 2 2/3 innings of work.

Brogan Fischer couldn't get it done on the hill for the Champion City Kings, taking a loss. He lasted just four innings, walked one, struck out one, and allowed two runs.

The Chillicothe Paints' Nicholas Ryan, Boggess and Jake Horew combined for five hits and two RBIs.
