A four-run explosion in the sixth inning carried the Southern Illinois Miners (19-10) to a 7-1 win over the Florence Freedom (7-21) at Rent One Park, Marion, IL on Wednesday.

The Southern Illinois Miners scored in the sixth on a two-run error, a sacrifice fly by Toby DeMello, and an RBI single by Aaron Gates.

Steve Marino was solid at the plate for the Southern Illinois Miners. Marino went 2-4, drove in one and scored two runs. He homered in the second inning and singled in the sixth inning.

Jarett Miller recorded his second win of the year for the Southern Illinois Miners. He allowed one run over 6 2/3 innings. He struck out two, walked one and surrendered eight hits.

Zach Isler couldn't get it done on the rubber for the Florence Freedom, taking a loss. He allowed six runs in 5 2/3 innings, walked one and struck out two.
