The Joliet Slammers make the most of 7 hits in 5-0 victory over the Washington Wild Things

The Joliet Slammers (17-14) and the Washington Wild Things (15-14) each put runners in scoring position on Thursday, but the Joliet Slammers capitalized on more RBI opportunities, pulling out a 5-0 win at CONSOL Energy Park.

Carter Bell reached base three times in the game for the Joliet Slammers. He scored one run and had one RBI. He singled in the first innings and doubled in the sixth inning.

The Washington Wild Things' lineup had no answer for Tyler Levine. Levine held the Washington Wild Things hitless over two innings, allowed no earned runs, walked one and struck out one.

David Popkins went a perfect 2-2 at the plate for the Washington Wild Things. He singled in the first and fifth innings.

Sean Townsley got the win, running his season record to 3-2. Townsley struck out five, walked three and gave up eight hits.

Chase Cunningham ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with his third loss of the year. He lasted just seven innings, walked two, struck out one, and allowed three runs.
