Carson Goldsmith was cold coming off the bench, but Goldsmith warmed up quickly as Goldsmith stroked a key pinch-hit double in the seven to lead the Southern Illinois Miners (16-9) to an 11-3 win over the River City Rascals (15-10) on Saturday at CarShield Field.

With the score tied at three in the seventh inning, Goldsmith came to the plate and doubled.

The offense exploded for the the Southern Illinois Miners in the seventh. In the inning the Southern Illinois Miners scored six runs. The Southern Illinois Miners scored in the seventh on , a two-run single by Alex De Leon, a solo home run by Nolan Earley, and a solo home run by Shane Kennedy.

Kennedy was hot from the plate for the Southern Illinois Miners. Kennedy went 4-5, drove in one and scored one run.

Rick Teasley recorded his third win of the year for the Southern Illinois Miners. He allowed three runs over six innings. He struck out three, walked none and surrendered 12 hits.

Joe Scanio (2-2) took the loss for the River City Rascals. He allowed eight runs in six innings, walked none and struck out two.
