The Xenia Scouts (8-6) beat the Lake Erie Monarchs (5-10) 8-4 on Tuesday at Gradys Field behind Jeremy Barth, who went 2-3.

Jacob Chrysler brought the heat against the Lake Erie Monarchs during his outing. Chrysler held the Lake Erie Monarchs hitless over two innings, allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out one.

Blake Benefield had two extra-base hits for the Lake Erie Monarchs. He homered in the first inning and doubled in the sixth inning.

Jorge Lozano improved to 1-0 on the year by picking up the win for the Xenia Scouts. He allowed four runs over six innings. He struck out six, walked one and surrendered six hits.

Chris Modrzynski ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with his first loss of the year. He allowed eight runs in five innings, walked three and struck out one.
