Ben Havel both hit and pitched well for the Hamilton Joes (9-6), but it wasn't enough as the Hamilton Joes fell to the Irish Hills Leprechauns (8-7) 7-4 at Foundation Field on Tuesday.

Havel was hot from the plate for the Hamilton Joes. Havel went 2-3, drove in one and scored one run. He singled in the fifth inning and tripled in the sixth inning.

Havel handled the Irish Hills Leprechauns' lineup with ease, racking up four strikeouts. The Hamilton Joes' pitcher gave up just four hits over 4 2/3 shutout innings.

The Irish Hills Leprechauns got their bats going early, scoring four runs in the first inning to pull ahead of the Hamilton Joes. The Irish Hills Leprechauns scored in the first on a steal of home by Kendall King, an RBI single by Jack Clark, an RBI single by Clark, and a two-run single by Andrew Dayfield.

The Hamilton Joes had no answer for Grant Peters, who kept runners off the basepaths in his appearance. The Hamilton Joes managed just three hits off of Peters, who allowed two earned runs, walked one and struck out four during his five innings of work.

Darien Smith couldn't get it done on the rubber for the Hamilton Joes, taking a loss. He allowed six runs in 1 2/3 innings, walked four and struck out two.
